The New York Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (NYAMFT), a division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, is the professional organization for marriage and family therapists in New York State. NYAMFT objectives include:
- Promote family well-being through support and advancement of preventive programs, treatment and social action.
- Provide a statewide network for professional affiliation, support and collegiality.
- Represent the profession of marriage and family therapy to government bodies, private institutions, other professional bodies and the public.
- Advocate ethical standards and practices for marriage and family therapy.
- Promote education and training for marriage and family therapists through conferences, programs and support for chapter development.
NYAMFT is comprised of 6 regional chapters representing approximately
900 members statewide: Albany/Hudson Valley, Central New York, Genesee
Valley, Long Island, Metropolitan New York City, and
Westchester/Mid-Hudson.
Each chapter offers a full range of services to members within its
geographic boundaries, providing networking opportunities, conferences,
workshops, meetings and other activities of professional interest.
